Art and Nature
We are a little behind what our lesson plan says for the week. One of the important things that I have learned in the last 2 1/2 years of having a home daycare is be flexible. That is the beauty of the home environment you can teach and they still learn even when your schedule is altered. So this morning was so nice and cool. We headed out finding much more to add to our letter C collage. We even found a weed which Mr. B was spending his morning pulling but we were enjoying. I no nothing about plants of even the names of weeds but one in particular held all of our attention. When you touched it the leaves folded into the stem where you touched it ( amazing). J was so excited that he found this so we spent a lot of time hunting for more before Mr. Ben pulled them. Little A sticks to her mission when she is given one. She was determined to fill her bag with "pretty" leaves, flowers, and acorns for the letter C collage. Mission completed!
Older A arrived and we began our story, C is for Coco. Older A went on a little letter C letter hunt around our classroom while I was cutting out the letter C, finding glue, and a paint brush.
For the collage I poured glue on the letter C and they took turns spreading it with a paint brush. Little A likes to group items together right now so cat tails (plant) together, leaves together, and acorns stayed together. Both A's love art work and love to be creative. Placement and movement of the objects required focus, I could see it in their face.
This was a success Older A was sitting at the table eating afternoon snack and says "Aunt B (my nickname) I made a letter C." THey never stop amazing me!
