Snow globe flop

Today I had the girls help me pick two pictures for our snow globe this morning. Got pictures printed scrapped glue off of the containers, filled them with red plastic pellets and glitter. We then hot glued the pictures to the containers lid and left them to dry. We went on to do our letter S writing and recognition activity on the chalk board and dry erase board. Both A's decided to drawn pictures of their family and J was added to the family drawing but no Aunt Brooke! Older A's people were made up of tons of tiny dots which made the person ( creative). They took a short nap in hopes of finishing our globes. We added the water and closed the lids and they looked pretty good for a kids craft I will say. After hot glue being added to the outside and left drying for a hour or so we returned to puddles of water on the counter and almost empty snow globes. Very sad to see they didn't turn out but I am determined to figure out a solution for next year!

So we resorted to cutting  coffee filters into snow flakes and coloring them. We always love having a back up craft.

Winter Wear Dress up

It is officially 9 days until Christmas. What better way to finish off the month with a snow theme. Since in Texas we truly do not know what real snow looks like and not in these three kiddos life so far. So we can discuss it in circle time, sing about it, say fun things we would do if we had snow ( dream about it), why not. We had lots of silly stories going on and snow adventures they went on in their life.
We decorated the letter S traced it and discussed words that started with S. I would like to say we have smart kiddos here. Then I pulled out all of my scarves and a few coats along with rain boots and winter hats for our photo shoot. We had a blast doing this modeling, dancing and the kids trying to keep on my large sized coats and size 8 shoes. Little A has continued this photo shoot randomly through out the day (lol). These picture are for a reason. We are going to be making snow globes this week with them in it!

Fun sunny winter day in Texas.

P.S.
Thanks Britt for the chalk board/ contact paper. It is a hit!

Community Helpers

I am behind on my posts but I am shooting for a few a week because it is hard to find time. This week is all about community helpers. We started off the morning with reading Help full Firefighters. We discussed what to do if our clothes are on fire: STOP, DROP, and ROLL. We each took turns acting it out and calling out the commands.  Then we practiced on our play phones dialing 911, which they all figure out. I try to stress that this is only used in case of an emergency, telling then situations. Look out with your phones (lol).
The picture is of our Bakers center where they mix in glitter and yummy "bread" in the dramatic play center ( this is a favorite!)
Dough recipe:
2 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
1 1/2 cups of water
We had flour in a spice container to add as needed when playing

We then went on to do our art activity. The kids traced their own hands and they did a great job. we then glued on 5 firemen hats and they each traced the letter F on the hat. While doing the art project we sang the
Five Little Firefighters
Five Little firefighters sleeping in their bed
The first one said, "Put your helmet on your head!"
The second one said, "Down the pole we'll slide."
The third one said, "Get ready to ride!"
The fourth one said, "Put your gas mask on your nose."
The fifth one said, "I'll grab the hose!"
Then Woooo went the siren and out went the fire
And the five little firemen could finally retire!

Safety Week

Since it is Child Protection and Safety month we are spending a week discussing safety. We started off the day with circle time each child saying a few things we do to ensure our safety and our friends. We sang our walk across the street song with acting it out the second time ( actress little A) then all began acting it out. We read and colored the first page of our poison safety activity book. Older A decided to move onto the word search tracing the letters that are in her name ( calling out A and V!), and moving on to other peoples first letters of their name ( Go older A). Best part was her writing her name with only a reminder to add the line in the letter A ( proud moment mom)! Finished the early morning with box card races (J's idea).
The weather turned very cold (we are Texans) so we headed to McDonalds for a cookie and to play! Little A requested hot chocolate from the cashier (LOL).
Morning of great achievements and indoor play lead to sleepy kiddos.

Continued...
Afternoon
J brought out the hard hats and goggles for "safe playing". Little A added her hard hat during the demolition of our Fall Leaves number board.
And card board box is Older A's continued afternoon practice with writing her name!!!
And... Mr. And Ms. Iron man were at McDonalds!

Fun at the park

We had a great morning at Zilker Park. The play ground was closed for renovations but we still managed to spend almost 3 hours there. We were minus little A and both kiddos said we couldn't leave before she got here. We played by the water throwing rocks and feeding the minnows some bread. We then found a shade tree to have a picnic and run around. They were pretending to spy kids hissing behind trees near other people. Leaving was hard it was a beautiful and fun morning.

Our first trip to the library

This morning we did our matching and tracing activity. The kids did great. There were 3 columns on the page a road , track , and a sidewalk. We used the puzzle pieces from our transportation puzzle to trace the correct form of transportation to the 3 columns. Each kid did great. Older a drew own bicycle on the sidewalk wheels and all. Little thinker A decided to traced her foot because I asked her what goes on the side walk and she said " my feet " ( correct and a mode of transportation!). We discussed this for a while then went on to our writing activity tracing the Upper case letter T and lower case letter t which I write in yellow marker and they trace. All kids continued on their own writing the letter T (woohoo).
Right before the rain hit and cold chilly wing we headed to the community pavilion for racing and yelling. Getting energy out before our first story time at the library. It went great they each went right in grabbing a book and a carpet square. The lady begin to read and little A decided to join her in front of the and was helping her read. it was so cute. They read three story about the rain and sang a few songs one being the ABC's at the request of little A ( she does not have a problem in a crowed of people)! After story time they did water color painting. All four of us had a great time with our new adventure. Plus we need to mingle with others!

Transportation Week

It's a rainy fall day but of course we know how Tp have fun. This time change has messed is up, at least it is easy to wakeup now.
This month is child protection and safety month
Circle time this morning was funny because we all take turns saying what we did this weekend. But the kids told a story this morning. J started with going fishing ( yes we did) then there was a coyote that came and ate his fish? Little A continued with a bear got her and cit her leg. She began to bleed so the bear got het a bandaid and kissed it! Older A went to the jumpy place and her friends came but she broke her leg and her mom was sad. Let me tell you these stories beat the book we read about different types of transportation.
We decided to get messy with paint and cars. Each videos car was "splashing through the paint. So yes we had paint every where even in hair( funny!).
The raining stopped so we headed to the park with riding toys ( J and older A), and little A had het rain heat and a basketball. We met our friends and had a blast ridding and splashing in the puddles.

Excuse spelling errors blogging on my phone whew hard work. Lol!

Pumpkin and piggies painting

We are on day four of this week. Spent the lovely morning eating our usual Thursday chick- fil- a morning snack, but this time picnicking in the park. All three kiddos need to be outside running and yelling not confined to chick- fil- a play area. Yes the crazies were out ( lol!) We had lots of fun playing with new treasures ( J.), dancing down the steps to the music ( older A.), and playing with a new girl friend ( little A.)! Park play ended with rolling down the hill and dancing their way up.
We had our pumpkins from pur pumpkin patch adventure yesterday and the girls would not let me forget the last part, painting them. J was gone this afternoon so we decided on Halloween pedicures because that's what girls do with out boys around, right? Paint piggies.! And we ended with the great painting of our tiny pumpkins. This was done outside so clean up was easy breezy!

Pumpkin patch fun!

Today was such a great day with beautiful fall weather. We had so much fun at our little local pumpkin patch. All of the kids love climbing on them and seeing which ones they can lift. Most of the time was spent with each child picking thru all of the tiny pumpkins for our decorating on Friday! They had three baskets full so the choice was very hard. Pumpkin picking was a blast!

P and pumpkin painting

Halloween is almost here. It's a week away so the letter of the week is P and pumpkins are the theme. Wednesday we will be visiting the local pumpkin patch. This mornings activity was decorating your pumpkin with the letter P. It was fun seeing how they placed the 4 letter Ps to represent the eyes, nose, and the mouth on their pumpkin. Each one would say look at my pumpkins face! Naming each part, no direction needed. We went on to a little science lesson mixing yellow and red paint to make orange. Each kiddo got a Dixie cup and a paint brush. I put one squirt or each color and they mixed. J said add more red to make it more orange. Little A said me too but I will do it, lol! They made their own shade of orange and painted away.
